Selena originally studied as a pianist and has a Bachelor of Music in Piano from the University of Melbourne and an Associate in Piano. She is currently studying voice with Gary May. Selena has appeared in a number of roles in Melbourne Opera productions, and has also performed with Victorian Opera, More than Opera, CitiOpera, Yarra Opera, Mornington Peninsula Theatre Company, Heidelberg Choral Society, the chamber orchestra La Fraternita di Solisti, and the Opera quartet Opera Vivente. Selena returned from Germany in 2013 where she studied voice with Sami Kustaloglu. She performed a recital of Wagner's Wesendonck Lieder and Rachmaninoff art songs at Hauptstadt Oper in Berlin, on the 70th anniversary of Rachmaninoff's death. She was invited to return to Germany for a second time in 2013 under a scholarship for the Oper oder Spree intensive Opera summer programme. This involved intensive coaching and preparation for six performances, including an evening Lieder recital, Oper in der Scheune — a production of an Opera collage in a country barn — and the Festive Opera Gala with orchestra.

Selena has received over forty awards, winning many Opera and Art song awards in various singing competitions. She has been a finalist in the Mietta's Song Competition on two occasions, finalist in the 3MBS Young Performer of the Year, Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Aria, John Tallis Singing award, Boroondara Vocal Championship, Liederfest, South Eastern Arts Festival and semi-finalist in the Herald Sun Aria.

Selena frequently appears as a recitalist in concert and in Oratorio. Later this year she will perform the role of Anna Kennedy in CitiOpera's production of Maria Stuarda, and will appear as a soloist in the premiere of a new composition by David Kram.
