Lin Jiang was born in Shanghai, China in 1986 and he moved to Australia at the age of five. He started playing the french horn at the age of ten and, in the following year, received numerous scholarships and accepted to study at the prestigious high school, Scotch College. As a result of his outstanding potential, Jiang was accepted as a student by renowned pedagogue, Geoff Collinson, and was awarded a scholarship at the Victorian College of the Arts at the age 16, before finishing secondary school.

Jiang has been the recipient of many prizes and accolades. Following an exceptional performance in the 'Young Artist' program with The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Jiang was invited to perform Strauss's Second Concerto in the MSO's celebrated Sydney Myer Free Concert Series to a crowd of over 5000 people and for which The Age newspaper was to write, "He stood and delivered with boundless vigour and confidence". This performance resulted in a return invitation to perform Mozart's Fourth Concerto on 24 & 25 March 2006 and Strauss's First Concerto on 24 November 2006.

Other major prizes include the Barry Tuckwell Brass Prize at the Melbourne International Festival of Brass and a sponsorship deal with Yamaha Australia as part of the Australian Chamber Brass Ensemble (of which he is a permanent member). Jiang recently recorded all the Mozart horn concertos with the Western Australian Symphony Orchestra, and the Strauss and Gliere horn concertos with the MSO for the ABC classics label.

2006 engagements include performing as a soloist with the MSO, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Tasmania Symphony Orchestra, the Melbourne University Symphony Orchestra and the recording of another CD for the Melba Records label. Jiang is currently on a full scholarship at The University of Melbourne, completing a Bachelor of Music and continuing his studies with Geoff Collinson.

He performed with the Zelman Symphony at the MLC Auditorium on Saturday 1 April 2006 and again at the Hepburn Springs Swiss-Italian Festival on the afternoon of Sunday 23 April 2006 in Daylesford.
