Damien Eckersley - double bass

Damien Eckersley commenced his double bass studies at the Canberra School of Music with Max McBride at the age of 16 in 2001. He has subsequently studied in Austria with Johannes Auersperg and Tim Dunin and worked with the Vienna Philharmonic and Graz Philharmonic, as well as the contemporary chamber Ensemble Danube.

In Australia, he worked with the Tasmanian and Sydney Symphony orchestras before joining the Melbourne Symphony. Continuing his interest in chamber music, he has performed with Halcyon and The Seymour Group, and he is also a founding member of the Sydney-based double bass quartet 4 Basses.

Damien has appeared as a soloist in recital and with orchestras throughout Australia, Japan, Austria and Germany.
