Adrian McEniery - tenor

Adrian McEniery is a graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium. His awards include the 1999 Opera Award of the Australian Singing Competition, a 1996 Churchill Fellowship, the 1995 Britten-Pears School Scholarship, Lotus Development Award and the Royal Overseas League Bursary. He was a member of Victoria State Opera's Young Artists' Program in 1994-95.

His roles for Opera Australia and Victoria State Opera include the Duke in Rigoletto (OzOpera), Tom Rakewell in The Rake’s Progress (OzOpera), Andres in Wozzeck, Male Chorus in The Rape of Lucretia (VSO), Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni (VSO), Edmondo in Manon Lescaut (VSO), 1st Jew in Salome, Ismael in Nabucco and Pang in Turandot.

Roles for other companies include Dr S in The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat (Operalive – 2002 Greenroom Award Nomination), Captain Vere in Billy Budd (Brisbane Biennial), Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana, Beppe in Pagliacci, Alfredo in Die Fledermaus (New Zealand Opera), the title roles in Mozart’s Lucio Silla and Gounod’s Faust, Cassio in Otello, the Beadle in Sweeney Todd, Bardolfo in Falstaff, (Opera Queensland) and Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly (Melbourne Opera Company – 2004 Greenroom Award Nomination).

His concert repertoire includes Britten’s Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings and Les Illuminations, Rorem’s Evidence of Things Not Seen, Einhorn’s Voices of Light, Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, Schubert’s Die Schöne Müllerin, Schumann’s Dichterliebe, Janáček’s The Diary of One Who Vanished and The Evangelist in the St John Passion.

2007 performances include creating the role of King Pandion in Richard Mills' new opera The Love of the Nightingale for West Australian Opera and Victorian Opera, and Pong in Turandot for New Zealand Opera.

He is a member of the vocal ensemble Glisten and on the vocal staff of the School of Music Monash University.

Adrian will perform at the Camberwell Centre on Saturday 25 November 2006 in the Choral Symphony by Beethoven.
