Philip Carrington

Philip Carrington is an accomplished performer and educator. He has trained and conducted many student and community orchestras, including the Zelman Symphony for almost twenty years, and performed in many solo and chamber music recitals and as a soloist with several orchestras. He has taught violin and viola extensively, and his pupils have developed variously into performers of classical, popular and world music, as well as competent teachers.

Philip has also served for six years as the National President of the Australian String Teachers Association and regularly adjudicates at Eisteddfods and competitions.

Philip was the appointed conductor of the Zelman Symphony from 1980 until 1999. Since then, he has returned to conduct the orchestra on a number of occasions, including our 70th Anniversary concert in September 2003. In addition, Philip conducted the orchestra in June 2002, June 2003 and June 2004 for the National Pharmacies Piano Concerto Award Finals of the Boroondara Eisteddfod, in concerts where each of three pianists performs excerpts from a major concerto.

The above details were supplied by the individual conductor and were current at the time of their last performance with the Zelman Symphony.
