Nicole Marshall - conductor

Showing a natural flair and ability for conducting, Nicole Marshall is co Music Director of the Westgate Concert Band, Associate Conductor at Southern Area Concert Band Incorporated and Assistant Conductor of the Essendon Symphony Orchestra. Passionate about her art-form, she is currently receiving mentoring from Joseph Lallo and Lieutenant Matt Klohs of the Defence Force School of Music, and she is attending professional development courses run by the Australian Band & Orchestra Directors Association and Melbourne Youth Orchestras. In 2018, Nicole was the recipient of the Rosemary and John Hopkins Award for conductors.

Nicole is a current Bachelor of Music student at the University of Melbourne. After completing a Bachelor of Nursing in 2015, Nicole realised her passion in life lies in conducting. Nicole hopes to go on and study a Masters in Conducting.

Nicole has performed professionally for several years across a wide range of music genres including classical, funk, jazz and musical theatre. She is currently studying saxophone under the tutelage of Joseph Lallo and also has extensive performance experience on the trumpet, French horn and clarinet.

Nicole has performed and conducted in various ensembles across Melbourne over the last ten years. This year will see Nicole continue to build her regular conducting engagements as well as being invited to guest conduct several ensembles including the Melbourne University Saxophone Ensemble, the Melbourne University All-Staff Orchestra and the Zelman Memorial Symphony Orchestra.
