Beethoven's Emperor Concerto was voted Number 1 in ABC Classic FM's top 100 concertos. Who is surprised? Not us! This music whose power reaches us so deeply will be performed by the wonderful pianist Hoang Pham, whose personal and electric music-making saw him win the ABC Symphony Australia Young Performer of the Year Award last year.

Standing alongside the Emperor will be Tchaikovsky's most personal work, his Pathétique Symphony, whose hostile reception plunged Tchaikovsky into despair. This is one of his most heart-wrenching, passionate and beloved works.

The concert will also feature the premiere performance of "The Death of Pythagóras at Metaпontum", a work by the 2014 Zelman Symphony University of Melbourne Emerging Composer, Michael Bakrnčev.

Mark Shiell will present a pre-concert talk in the auditorium commencing 7.30pm.
